In this one-unit baccalaureate course, students apprentice with an instructor to use reading and writing as processes that support college learning across the disciplines. Using the Reading Apprenticeship model, the course structures reading and writing activities to support the personal, social, cognitive, and knowledge-building dimensions of learning; further, it fosters students’ reflection on their own literacy and learning practices.

NOTE 1: SJSU students enrolling in ENGL 96RWS will complete the Reflection on College Writing (RCW), SJSU's directed self-placement activity, as part of the course.

NOTE 2: Students enrolling in ENGL 96RWS must concurrently enroll in a two-unit support course, ESE 1001.
