If you are planning to attend Chico State, you are strongly encouraged to complete your Early Start experience at Chico since our courses are designed specifically to prepare you for the college-level math and English courses you will take in the fall. If you are not attending Chico State, you may wish to consider completing Early Start through the campus you'll be attending in the fall. MATH 290 is the first of three components of a stretched general education offering for students requiring Early Start Math. Students completing the stretch sequence will satisfy both GE science and the GE quantitative reasoning/mathematics requirements. This first component is intended to prepare students for the co-requisite math and science curriculum offered at CSU, Chico, and meets Early Start Math requirements. The course will include specific and relevant mathematics content: Number sense, graphical reasoning, and algebraic thinking. It will also emphasize familiarity with the processes and tools of the co-requisite science course that students will take in the fall. This will include setting up and gaining familiarity with course content software, university processes, and other relevant campus information designed to support student success. Open only to incoming freshmen subject to the Early Start requirement. 1 unit. Meets in person Tuesday through Thursday, 9 am-4 pm. Registration Deadline, August 10th.
