Advanced Placement (AP)
Advanced Placement (AP) standardized exams are designed to measure how well a student has mastered the content and skills of AP courses. A student must score three or higher on the AP exams to earn college credit.

A state assessment exam is one of the multiple measures utilized by the CSU that provides an early indicator of a student’s readiness to GE readiness for college-level coursework in English and mathematics.

The practice test helps students prepare for the Smarter Balanced English language arts and mathematics assessment tests they take in the spring of their junior year.

International Baccalaureate (IB)
The International Baccalaureate (IB) courses designated as honors courses on the UC “a-g” list are awarded extra grade points for computation of the high school GPA exam. In addition, most CSU campuses award advanced standing credit for successful performance on Higher Level IB examinations.

Placement in English/Math Courses 
Factors known as “multiple measures” are several ways the CSU evaluates students’ academic preparation in English and math for placement in first-year General Education (GE) English and mathematics courses.
